First of all, thank you for the referral!

How to make a referral for EMDR Intensives for anxiety, trauma, and PTSD treatment

How to make a referral:

Direct your client to Self-Schedule a phone call with me to get started:

You can also sign up on their behalf. I will call your client at the selected time chosen and at the number you provide.

If I can answer any questions about the process or the collaboration, feel free to email me at info@karenweiman.com or call me at 740-274-9283.

If you wish to make a client referral for EMDR Therapy, please consider the following:

  1. EMDR Reprocessing and Intensives are best suitable for clients who have the self-regulation and coping skills in place to use for self-soothing as needed during and after EMDR sessions.  It is respectfully requested that you do not send people to me who are not ready to dig deep into their traumas, such as your most fragile and vulnerable clients. It would not be beneficial for them, and could do more harm than good. If you have any question on whether they are ready, call me, and we can determine readiness together.

  2. EMDR reprocessing including Intensives are not suitable for highly dissociative clients. Please ensure to assess this client for dissociation prior to referring them to an intensive.

  3. EMDR reprocessing and Intensives are also not best for those who have an active drug or alcohol addiction. I ask that individuals participating in EMDR reprocessing sessions and intensives refrain from drug or alcohol use for 24 hours prior to starting a session and continue until 24 hours after the last session. They must be able to do this in order to participate.

  4. EMDR reprocessing and intensives should not be tried with those who are at risk of suicide. There should be no suicide attempts or serious suicidal thoughts with intent/specific plan within the last year.

  5. Please be prepared to support the client both BEFORE and AFTER the EMDR sessions and intensives. We can have the client sign mutual consent forms so we can work as a team with the client throughout the process. In the event the work involves attachment/abandonment/betrayal, we don't want them feeling abandoned when they leave the intensive if their work is incomplete. Most feel considerable relief and transformation. However, some are incomplete in their work when we run out of time.

  6.  Please have the client review my website thoroughly to learn about Trauma, EMDR, and what to expect regarding fees and the EMDR intensive process.

Thank you again.
