Reflections from the field

About the therapy work of Karen Weiman

Words from fellow Colleagues and professionals about my work

While I can’t share client stories directly — this is private work — some colleagues and mental health professionals have offered kind reflections on how I’ve shown up over the years.

These are people who know the breadth and depth of this work. They’ve seen me in action — some for many years — and their words reflect a personal understanding of how I practice.

“I met Karen in February of 2012 when she joined my group private practice…
Though I don’t have direct experience in her therapy room, I can speak to my observations of her practice within the group practice. Over time, she has proven herself to be reliable, calm, and easy to get along with. She does what she says she is going to do, and shows up on time. While many struggle to become established in private practice, she had several clients follow her from her previous practice, and she maintained full schedules with repeat referrals from area physicians.

She had the highest retention rate of all the therapists in the practice, meaning most people didn’t stop therapy with her after only a few sessions, but kept coming back, week after week. This shows me that people are satisfied with her as a clinician. She also saw the parents of some of my clients (I am a child and adolescent therapist) who all reported positive experiences with her as a therapist.”
L.G. (Former Group Practice Owner)

I rarely write recommendations but Karen is truly an exception.
Incredible interpersonal skills, clear leadership capabilities and highly skilled in the area of clinical social work. We had a small team in the EAP area that was utilized frequently by employees (therapy clients) -- many of whom contacted me directly to relay their high rate of satisfaction. Karen is a reliable, stable and highly skilled employee who I strongly endorse.
D.V. (Business Executive and Former Colleague)

“I met Karen over 25 years ago when she was directing personal growth retreats for college students…
Since I have known her, she has worked in wilderness therapy programs, addiction recovery centers for women, large medical facilities and universities, and for the largest part, providing therapy for adults with trauma and developmental trauma.

Karen has not wavered in her dedication to understanding how our early experiences shape our relationship to self and the world around us. She is always learning, whether it be self-study or commitment to workshops and trainings.

Karen has consistently demonstrated a high level of ethical standards, a steadfast commitment to personal growth both for herself and her clients, and a dedication to the wellness of those who she has served.”
A.S. (Mental Health Therapist)

“Karen has a gentle spirit and is always willing to share her knowledge and expertise.
She was always kind and honest as she facilitated conversations to help faculty and staff (clients at a large university) move forward through stressful situations.”
S.M. (DIrector of Wellness and Health Coaching)

“As a fellow mental health therapist, Karen and I have consulted regularly for years.
She is committed to the growth and well-being of her clients and it shows in the relationships that she has created. Her understanding of trauma and the impact on the brain, nervous system, and psyche, as well as her warm and relational demeanor, has resulted in much success with clients.”
A.S. (Longtime Professional Colleague)
